Teeny Tiny Hiney Turned 4 months!!!!

Yesterday, my baby turned 4 months and this last Saturday she was 17 weeks!! She is getting soo big (to me anyways). We just got back from her check up and she was 22 3/4 inches and 9lbs 14 oz. The nurse said she is sooo little! To me she has came far from 4lbs 13oz (her lowest weight). The Dr surprisingly said she was doing great! She is under the 3rd percentile for her height and weight, but has been steadily growing, so that's all that matters. So funny since my son is in the 97th percentile for his height and weight! After leaving I thought I should have asked for a note saying that, since people that know I'm breastfeeding ask why is she so small and if I'm eating right and drinking right. The only thing that I TOTALLY disagreed on was when he said " Start giving her cereal now and right before her next check up you can introduce fruit". No way am I going to do this. The cereal is a filler and no need to give it to her, that's my opinion. My milk will slowly go away, giving her food now. We can't have that, now can we?! How much does your baby weigh now if you are a new mom. To the mams that have older babies how much did your baby weigh around this age? I would love to see the different range in sizes!

I don't remember but that does sound small. My son was in the 90% at birth and now is in the teens. You really shouldn't worry. Every child is so different and grows at different rates.

My son was pretty chunky as an infant. LoL He was born 8 lbs. 7 oz at birth and by 4 months he was around 15 lbs. All babies are different in their weight gain, I worked for a while as a nanny to a 6 month old baby girl who was still small enough to fit in NB sized clothing :) <3 Your lil one is growing up! It's so bittersweet isn't it?

She is so cute. My daughter is 10 lbs at 3 months. She is little, but her sister (4 years old) was always little.

They grow so fast don't they!?

Good for you on no cereal and fruit!!!! Way to early to start that stuff and you are so right there really is no nutrition in it anyway. It will just mess up her stomach and GI.

Ethan wasn't much bigger at that age! He was consistently around 90% height and 25% weight, so he didn't weigh much more at that age.

She looks like a beautiful and healthy babe to me!
If she was only 4lbs 13oz at one time than she is doing great at 3 months, truly.

I have delivered babies petite at 6lbs. and then had babies bless me at over 9lbs! Each being so wonderfully them. :)
My baby just turned 3 months on the 15th. And to be honest I have not weighed her recently. (I do not subscribe to wellness check ups, btw) I know she is filling out and growing b/c she can't fit into her nb clothes anymore. Needless to say I don't fuss too much. And you are right on, the more you nurse the more milk will come in. I began feeding my 17 month old solids at 6 months only b/c she REALLY wanted to eat with us. Being pregnant and supplementing solids I quickly lost my milk, as she also weaned naturally. But it was unfortunate for me, I do enjoy breastfeeding as long as I can.

My daughter got down to 5 lbs at one point and is only 16 lbs, 2 oz now at nearly 11 months. Good for you for refusing solids this early. I wish I had been as informed when my ped suggested it. Keep up the good work.
