It's Not a Sprain...

I just got back from an appointment with an orthopedic surgeon not too long ago. My appointment was at 10:45am and they wanted me to be there at 10:15. We arrived at 10:10. and guess when I was called back....11:30! Then I had to wait another 30 min before even being seen! Anyways, they wanted me to bring my X-rays from the ER, so yesterday my husband picked them up. When he brought them home I decided to take a look. I was not happy with how they were taken. The X-ray was of my calf and the very top of my ankle. I told them to make sure they get the top of my foot as well, since it was hurting pretty bad.
Well, when the Dr came in I told him this, so he ordered more X-rays.  A nurse came in and got them all ready for the Dr to view. After waiting another 20 min he comes in and takes a look at my foot, tries moving it and pokes it in a few places . He then takes a look at the X-rays and says there is a stress fracture right below the bottom of my ankle at the very top of my foot also that it's extremely inflamed. He says he wants an MRI done on it also and said it usually takes 6-12 weeks to completely heal. I wanted to cry! What about my workouts?! I was able to get to a scale this morning and saw I gained 5 lbs! This just isn't right! He placed a big boot on me and says we might have to go for a regular cast depending on the results of the MRI. I will continue to keep you all updated!!!

From one injured Mama to another-I hope you feel better. I just sprained my foot/ankle the other day. Not so fun! Yikes! I hope you get better soon.

So sorry to hear that it ended up being more then just a sprain. That really stinks on the healing time frame but I hope you're feeling better!

I haven't been a follower too long so I'm sorry if I am asking a stupid question. Is the injury just the stress fracture or is there more higher in the leg?

I had a stress fracture from my middle toe all the way up into my ankle, and those things do hurt! I was told I would have to stay off it for a few months, but I was leaving the base I was training at and didn't get the chance to give it too much time to heal. I can tell you that I wish I had now 6 years later and I can feel it when I run still. I ended up injuring my knee as a result of babying my leg while I was healing, I had at least gotten a brace on my ankle/foot for running.

I hope everything goes well for you and heals fast and nicely.

I'm so sorry Glenda :-( I bet you gained weight because your body is under stress right now. Try not to worry about it, you know you can loose the weight. Just really focus on your eating and listen to your body. Don't stress!

I worked at a MRI center for a few years so I know that there is nothing to worry about there. They'll get plenty of good images and you'll know for SURE what your prognosis is.

I'm so sorry to hear that. I dealt with that a lot growing up, as I was a gymnast. You can find other ways to work out, if you are really determined. :) I know its not the same, but it's something, right? I hope you have a great weekend. Following from Friday Follow.

Ok, I know this is going to sound ridiculous, but what about Hula Hooping? I sometimes do that on the Wii Fit and it is harder than it looks after even 10 min. Just trying to help :) I hate missing my workouts too. Stay positive.
Blessings,

Kel

Yikes! I'm glad you got it checked out, though. About 2 weeks after I had my son, I fractured my foot (I walked into a walking chair and it fractured it in 2 places, can you believe that??). I didn't go to the doctor for almost 3 months. STUPID, STUPID, STUPID! I still have foot pain to this day!

Blah! I feel your pain ;)
